Seborrheic dermatitis is a skin condition that causes redness, scaly patches, itchiness, and dandruff. It can cause a feeling of a burning scalp. Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic form of eczema and most often affects the scalp, but can also develop in oily areas of the body, like the scalp, face, upper chest, and back.

Piroctone Olamine ( C14H23NO2 ) is an antifungal to combat seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff.
Piroctone Olamine is also sometimes used in products to reduce dandruff and, at the same time, has good conditioning properties and reduces sebum production. It also appears to be slightly more effective when combined with zinc pyrithione in reducing the severity and area affected by the scaling.
Zinc pyrithione is a zinc compound, widely valued for its potent antimicrobial and antifungal properties. Zinc pyrithione is particularly effective against fungi such as Malassezia, which is a common cause of dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and other skin irritations. Seborrhoeic dermatitis is a common skin condition affecting about 1–3% of people.
In addition, zinc pyrithione itself significantly reduces scaling and inflammation. One study found that a 0.25% concentration of zinc pyrithione, applied twice daily, effectively treats plaque psoriasis. This powerful ingredient is a key component of Propaira’s SD Plus Shampoo.
